- Details of Event
- Another man and the deceased were raising a box of stone from the quarry by means of a double-handed crane. When he load was high enough to swing round, Terserus took on the handle he had used and applied the brake so that his follow workman could detach the other handle. The brake proved ineffective and the load ran back into the quarry with the result that the gearing wheels of the crane broke, and Terserus was fatally injured by one of the flying pieces of iron. The crane should have been fitted with a catch.
