- Details of Event
- A shot had been fired in the ripping, and deceased and another man were filling the stone, displaced by it into the packs when the stone at the new ripping up fell and knocked out three props, and killed him. The stone was bastard sandstone and full of slips. The piece that fell was 10ft. long by 4ft. 8 ins. wide by 3ft. 4ins in the thickest part of it. There were two slips, - one at each end and a break next to the face, and the stone would therefore, be resting on the timber, and when it moved would sway out a prop set in the centre of it.
