While a cage was being loaded with men at the shaft bottom, five full tubs were being lowered down the shaft siding. The tubs moved by gravitation, and were controlled by sprags. These tubs were allowed to run amain, and they entered the cage, causing such injuries to the deceased that he died a few hours later and seriously injuring one of his companions.
