- Deceased, with the assistance of the colliery storekeeper. loaded his cart with 16 bags of chopped hay, each bag holding 6 stones; he was last seen by the storekeeper arranging his bags no one saw the accident happen but he was found soon after lying on the ground near the granary door injured about the head and the horse and cart away from him with the load intact. The horse was a quiet animal and there was nothing to startle it in the neighbourhood. The doctor found his neck was broken. Probably he had fallen off the cart on to his head. The Jury found that he had been crushed by the cart wheel.
