- Details of Event
- When helping to fill a waggon some 9 yards from the face of the quarry, about 50 or 60 tons of rock fell off the top of the face, and he was so severely injured that he died in hospital the following day. He and his son had examined and stood on the rock which subsequently fell, within two hours of the accident, and were satisfied as to its condition. The beds, however, were dipping at a high angle towards the quarry bottom, and they should have been worked in broader and lower steps than was the case.
