He was engaged in picking batts from the coal on the travelling belt in connection with the coal screen, when, disregarding instructions to the contrary, he went across a two-rail fence surrounding the driving machinery whilst it was in motion. His clothing caught on a stud on the driving shaft and he was drawn and crushed within a space of 8 inches, death being instantaneous.
