- Details of Event
- He was helping to take down a gangway which rested on brickwork pillars 12 feet high and about 30 feet apart. One of the balks, 18 inches by 8 inches, consisting of pitch pine, had fallen to the ground at one end, the other end resting on the top of one of the brickwork pillars. It is supposed that he was pinching the lower end of the balk with a 6 foot pinchbar when he slipped and was unable to get clear of the balk as it fell completely to the ground. He was sadly injured and died on December 6th.
