Deceased and his mate were cleaning out and timbering an airway along the coal face between two gate-roads. While he was making a foothole for a prop, a large stone fell without any warning and struck him on the arm and back, inflicting injuries from which he died eleven days after. The fall displaced two props, one being a broken one which he was about to renew. Died 28th.
