He was assisting to remove loose rock at the top of the quarry, when a small quantity fell, of which his comrade gave warning. He turned his back to the face and the stones and earth striking him, he was forced over the edge. He rolled down the slope and then fell some 100 feet to the bottom. Ropes and chains were provided but the men did not and were not made to tie themselves securely.
