Charles Sweeney (46), miner, lost his life in Kippsbyre Colliery, near Airdrie on Tuesday, by a fall of stone from the roof of his working place. He received a compound fracture of the skull which proved instantaneously fatal. Deceased was single and resided at 2 Gaswork Row, Calderbank. [Hamilton Advertiser 28 May 1927].
