- Details of Event
- He was taking down top stone in a working 6 feet wide in order to put through a rise fault. The first 2 feet of stone had been taken down from the fault to the last plank, a distance of 4 feet. The master shifter was in the place ii hours before the accident, and told him to set some timber, but the deceased said he did not consider the roof needed any. On being told he must set it he commenced to prepare a place on the left side to in set a prop. It was, however, apparently never set, and he kept on working till a fall of stone occurred. He was an experienced miner, but his want of judgement and neglect to set the roof support when ordered cost him his life.
