- Details of Event
- The accident occurred near the stables, at a junction of cross-roads forming an opening 12 feet square. The roof had recently been ripped and re-timbered. Water was kept there in tubs for the convenience of the horses. The deceased was in tile act of washing a pony's legs when, without the slightest warning, a fall of roof, estimated to be 130 tons, occurred. The pony was instantly killed and the deceased was fastened for four hours before he could be liberated. He sustained concussion of the spine and injuries to the chest and died from shock on the following day.
