- Fell 39ft. from a bridge. Along with another man running behind waggon containing 15cwt. of debris; the front door of waggon was down to facilitate tipping; a large stone rolled from waggon on to the bridge, jamming the axle, causing the wheels to jump the rails. There being only 6.75 ins from rail to outside edge of bridge the waggon went over, taking deceased with it, clinging to the iron bar behind. The other man let go, thus escaping. The bridge was 4ft. wide, the rails 2ft. 11ins. apart. No guard rail, no fence to either side of bridge.
