7 April 1933: Bonnyrigg Pit Worker Killed - Alexander Strachan, jun., aged 26, mine-brusher, was killed in Polton Colliery early yesterday by the fall of a stone from the pit roof. Strachan resided at 21 Sherwood Cottages, Bonnyrigg, with his father, Alexander Strachan, who is also employed on the colliery pithead. [Scotsman 8 April 1933]
