When loading a tipping box at the bottom of the quarry, a piece of shale 9 inches by 7.5 inches by 2 inches fell from 47 feet above the bottom and 13 feet from the top of the quarry, from loose ground which should have been bared back. Struck him on the head fracturing his skull.
