- Details of Event
- He fell between the buffers of wagons which were being lowered by gravity, and was fatally crushed. When examined by the doctors at Barnsley Hospital symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning were discovered. He had inhaled the gas either from the coke which was being quenched near the place of accident, or from a fire over which he had been sitting. The gas poisoning probably caused him to faint and fall.
