Deceased in loading the cage pushed two full tubs too far and stepped partly on the cage to pull them back when it moved away and he was caught against the point skeet. The engineman stated at the inquest he received one rap before he started the cage. Several men at the bottom waiting to ascend and the banksman on the surface said no rap was given. The jury found that deceased was 'killed by the cage being accidentally or by mistake brought away from the bottom.' The Local Inspectors reported: 'We have no complaint to make everything is in order'.
