- Details of Event
- They were caught and killed by a runaway tub, when travelling down the main dook, on their way to work. The gradient varies from 1 in 47 to 1 in 8. The shale is brought to the surface by an overhead endless rope, the tabs being attached singly by means of chains twisted three times round the rope, and then hooked. The endless rope had not moved since the day before, and the chain, attached to the tub in question had apparently loosened slightly during the night, causing it to slip. There was a good travelling dook close to this one, and these men were disobeying orders, by walking on the main dook. 2 killed.
