Died June 7th. Deceased was kyrving in the top of the Yard seam nearly opposite the gate place when an oval-shaped past stone with diameters 5.5ft and about 1 foot thick in the centre thinning out all round the upper surface being rather glassy and mixed with coal pipes fell close to the face upon him displacing two props set under it and giving no warning. Deceased's marrow narrowly escaped. The deputy had been in the place about an hour before when it appeared safe. There was an ample supply of timber. The Local Inspectors made no report.
