A hole had been charged and fired three times twice with gelignite and once with powder and it was about to be fired again with powder but after putting in 5.5lbs of powder the chargeman found the hole was wet so put in 22.5 lbs. of gelignite in as well as the powder and charged, stemmed and lighted the fuse which should have run for 11 minutes but before this man could get out of the way the shot by some means exploded and he was buried under 300 tons of Whinstone brought down by the charge and killed.
