- Died December 12. Deceased an old employed at odd jobs on the surface had occasion to cross the railway on which the empty trains of wagons drawn by the North-Eastern Railway Co.'s locomotives arrive at the colliery as he came forward an empty came in and came to a standstill and as the locomotive changes ends here deceased thought he was safe in crossing between two wagons and he did in fact get safely over but while reaching back for a bag the wagons moved and crushed him.
