Two shots bad been prepared in a portion of a pillar near a fault, and where the roof was known to be dangerous from the presence of numerous slips or backs. Deceased and his mate fired one if the shots, and immediately returned to the place, and without making any examination of the roof proceeded to deal with the second shot. The former stood in the wagon-way, close to where the first shot had been fired, holding a light for his mate who was at the second shot withdrawing his pricker. A large piece of roof stone, of the shape of an equilateral triangle, fell and killed him instantly.
