He was injured on the 23rd December, 1911, by a fall of coal which came from the front of the coal he was holing. Two sprags and a prop were knocked out. The coal came off to the ordinary roof and the ordinary cleavage at the back. It was end free. He died on the 13th February, 1912, from a broken back.
