19 August 1916: Fatal Scalding Accident in Fife - James Sneddon (69), residing at 95 Hospital Hill, Dunfermline, died in Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital on Saturday morning from the effects of an accident he received at No.12 Pit, Donibristle colliery, on the previous day. While he was cleaning the inside of a boiler there was an unexpected inrush of steam, which caused severe scalding injuries. [Scotsman 21 August 1916]
