Details of Event
Fall of coal which he was wedging down from the face, caught and crushed his foot cutting it so that it bled freely. Blood poisoning supervened and death resulted in the Pontypool Hospital on the 31st January. The coal which came down released a back slip, and a further fall followed which injured Charles Oates who was holing a few yards away.
