Roof fall. William James Smith (30), miner's brusher, 2 McGowan Row, Cowie, was fatally injured by a fall of stone underground in Nos 1 and 2 pits, Polmaise Colliery, Millhall on Friday. He was extricated as quickly as possible but died before he could be brought to the surface. He leaves a widow and a family of four young children. (Stirling Observer).
