Deceased was holing on the top of the Brooch coal in a longwall face when a heavy bump caused two posts to reel out and broke other three, letting down a stone 7 feet by 4 feet by 2 feet, which fell upon him killing him instantly. Three sides of the stone were formed by slips. The place appeared to have been well timbered.
