- Details of Event
- Deceased was packing when a small quantity of clay fell upon him from the roof and cut his head. He was paid compensation until 12th June, when a doctor certified that he was fit for light work. He did not resume work, however, and died on 10th September. A post mortem was held, and the doctor who performed it stated at the inquest "In my opinion, the cause of death was general senile, decay combined with granular disease of the kidneys. There, was nothing discovered at the post mortem which connected the death directly with the accident. Indirectly the shock of the accident might possibly accelerate the senile changes." In accordance with coroner's direction the jury returned a verdict of "accidental death." The accident was at first considered to be so slight that the manager did not report it to me until the death took place.
