- Details of Event
- He had finished ridding the stones from a shot at a gateway top caunch, and it was necessary to take down a piece of stone at one side in order to make room for a plank. As he was coming out from under the canch, the above-mentioned piece of stone fell away from a slip and caught him. His injuries did not appear at the time to be very serious, but he never recovered sufficiently to recommence work, and he died on the 4th March, 1910. A post mortem examination was made, and after hearing the medical evidence the jury found that the cause of death was pneumonia, and was accelerated by an abscess on the base of the right lung, which abscess was set up by the injury in the pit on September 15th, 1909.
