- 24 April 1928: Fatal Sequel To Colliery Accident - Cowdenbeath Man Succumbs In Hospital - Thomas Smith (68), a miner, who formerly resided at 14 Woodland Place, Cowdenbeath, died in Dunfermline and West Fife Hospital on Tuesday as a result of injuries sustained. About seven weeks ago Smith was working in a colliery when he was caught by a fall of coal from the roof and was so severely injured that he had to be conveyed to the Hospital.
