- A small quantity if dirt having fallen from the side in a drift rising 1 in 4 across the measures, which dip 1 in 9 deceased and another man were sent to clean up the road. The drift was secured by bars and girders which were set on props at one side and let into the rock at the other with lagging on the top, and at the place of the accident a space above the lagging had been partially filled up by a quantity of dirt. While working there two of the girders were suddenly reeled out and the lagging and dirt falling upon deceased knocked him down and buried him. He was got out with all speed and artificial respiration tried but without success.
