23 November 1920: Man Killed In Cowdenbeath Pit - James Smith pit repairer, who resided with his parents at Fernbank, Kelty, was fatally injured in Kirkford Pit, Cowdenbeath, yesterday. He had been at work making a haulage room in the No.2 coal dook when a large stone breaking away from the side fell upon him. He died a few minutes after the accident.
