Details of Event
Fall of roof (bass) in an air level in 7ft. Banbury seam. Inclination of seam 1 in 2.7. Potts and Smith were repairing the level and they appeared to have gone a few yards in advance of the repairs probably for examination when a piece of overhanging bass fell from the roof on the rise side of the level and caught them. The place was remote from other workings, and the exact cause of the accident was unknown. Potts was dead when found, and Smith died the same day. 2 killed.
