- Details of Event
- Deceased was hewing coals at the face of a longwall working where the seam is 2 feet thick. He hewed to a slip in the roof running along the face and previously unexposed. This liberated an oval shaped piece of stone which fell upon him from an uneven roll and killed him instantly. Two props set at either end of the long axis of the oval, 6 feet by 4 feet 6 inches, were reeled out.
