- 9 September 1915: Bellshill – Pit Accident – On Thursday last week John Smeton, miner, Neilson Street, Bellshill, sustained a simple fracture to the left leg and left collar bone while at work in No 13 pit, Rosehall Colliery, belonging to R Addie & Sons Collieries Ltd. He had been unexpectedly caught in a fall of debris from the roof and crushed. He was removed to the Royal Infirmary, Glasgow. [Airdrie & Coatbridge Advertiser 11 September 1915]
