- 21 November 1921: Cambuslang Miner Killed - A large stone fell from the roof in Messrs Arch Russell & Co.'s Loanend colliery, Cambuslang yesterday and a coal cutter named James Smeaton (34) was killed outright. Smeaton resided at 4 Somerville Road Cambuslang, and was well known in the district. He leaves a widow and five of a family. [Scotsman 22 November 1921]
