- Details of Event
- He was travelling up an incline when he was fatally injured by a runaway train of tubs. The haulage had been stopped whilst the shifts were being changed, and it is conjectured that some unknown person had tampered with the clamps which hold the tubs to the rope and thus caused the runaway. It was fortunate that more persons were not killed and injured for there were about 30 men in the incline.
