- Details of Event
- Deceased and a loader were working in a stall in the top section of the Thick Goal, the thickness of which was 10ft. Part of the timber had been drawn from the stall, which was almost finished, and while the loader was filling out the loose coal deceased sat in a stall road in the adjoining corner of his stall, probably watching the roof. The deputy saw him there five minutes before the accident with his pick in his hand and deceased told him the stall was all right. Soon afterwards deceased told the loader to stand back, and there was a fall, and deceased was found beneath a large piece of roof batt having been killed by the fall thereof. The batt had been liberated along one side of the stall at a slip.
