Deceased who had no work to do for a few minutes, walked along the siding near the shaft bottom towards where a stoneman was dressing off the side to make width, when, within some 6 feet of where the man was working, a piece of side suddenly fell off and killed the lad on the spot. The stone had been slightly overhanging the coal below for probably 40 years, and the fall disclosed a wet weight break which, could not have been foreseen.
