- A small stone fell from the side of the shaft just below where some men were cutting a hitch. Deceased had finished boring in the 260 fm. level and had stepped forward to ring up the hoppet when the stone struck him. The stone was a small piece of granite about 1 inch in the thickest part and tapering off to nothing.
