- He was putting in the mould for a concrete floor, and was standing on a 7 by 2.5 inches batten driving a nail to fasten a stay, when he overbalanced and fell 30 feet to the ground. His skull was fractured. He only had one nail to drive and therefore, presumably, did not use more than the one batten as a scaffold. There were several other batten within reach had he thought it necessary to use them.
