- Died July 7. Deceased was employed to daub the oven doors of a battery of Otto Hilgenstock coke ovens, and had been at work about three quarters of all hour when the accident happened. A machine worked by an electric motor for ramming this ovens travels on four rails laid in front of the ovens, and deceased was sitting on the rail nearest this ovens, and was supposed either to have fallen asleep or been under the impression that this machine was travelling from him instead of to him when his was caught by it. This machine makes much noise when travelling on the rails, and its maximum speed is only about 4 miles per hour, and it was not moving at this speed when this accident happened. The driver had no view of the point where deceased sat, but it is supposed to remedy this by extending side windows the fell length of each side, and also to put a guard in front of the wheels.
