- Details of Event
- Deceased, who was under medical treatment for heart disease, worked in the night shift and had complained to his marrow during the course of the shift of feeling unwell. They went outbye together at the end of the shift, but deceased lagged behind and was left to come out alone as his marrow had some work to attend to near the shaft. When the fore shift hewers were going inbye about 3.30 am they found deceased quite dead by the side of the road with his lamp burning near him. An inquest was held, at which there was no suggestion of any accident made and medical evidence given that death was due to heart disease and so the jury found.
