- Details of Event
- Sherratt stood about 3 yards back from the outbye end of a set of empty tubs in a shunt, while a set of leads was being drawn by on the other side. One of the loads jumped the rails at the crossing, and collided with the empties and set them in motion towards Sherratt, who turned to get out of the way, but in doing so stumbled and fell, and was run over by the first tub before he could recover himself. He received injuries to the spine from which he died on the following day.
