- Details of Event
- Thirteen full tubs were at the top of an incline, supposed to all be coupled, when a block was knocked out and eleven went away down jinney, leaving two full ones attached to the rope. These ran into the empties at the bottom of jinney, causing the rope to jerk and spring the two full ones attached to it back, a distance of about 15 feet. Deceased, who was sitting waiting for empties, was struck by the full ones and so seriously injured that he died half an hour afterwards. It is probable that the tubs had not been coupled, and that the second or catch blocks were not in position.
