On the 8th of June, 1906 he, it is alleged, slipped when pushing a full tub in the pit and his death was thereby accelerated. He died from peritonitis due to an ulcer on the stomach. The medical evidence was not definite as to whether the injury had any connection with his death but Jury at the inquest in their verdict stated it was accelerated by injury.
