When riding up an incline between the trams the drawbar hook of the first tram straightened causing the ropes to become disengaged and the journey to run back. The hook at the other end when tested showed that there was not sufficient margin of safety with the working load. In forging it in some way it was not made as strong as the usual pattern, which has been followed during the past dozen years or more. I have been promised that the pattern will be generally strengthened for the future.
