Deceased and another man were lifting a tub containing bricks from the fall to the empty was at the bottom of a self-acting endless rope incline, with a gradient of 1 in 6. A shifter was repairing the incline at a place 75 yards from the bottom, and in attempting to lower a full stone tub a distance of 5 yards, it got amain. Deceased made no attempt to get clear, and was severely injured. He died on 4th February, 1914.
