Deceased with another fireman and three datallers were removing a fall on the endless rope haulage plane and making the road safe. Several supports had been put in, with lofting and stone packing above. While deceased was breaking up a stone on the roadway a large stone fell from a slip running diagonally across the road, and killed him outright.
