8 April 1915: MINER KILLED AT FALKIRK PIT. - As a result of an accident which occurred at No.5 Pit, Redding Colliery, near Falkirk, Thomas Scobbie, rope runner, was killed. It appears that the deceased was attending to a rake of hutches, and he was found crushed beneath the first of them. He was 25 years of age, and is survived by widow and one child.
